Jievaras Jasinskis

Jievaras Jasinskis (jazz trombone, Lithuania) – a trombonist, arranger, and composer of the younger generation, and the artistic director of Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble.
Born in 1989 in Vilnius, he graduated from the Vilnius Balys Dvarionas Music School in 2008. In 2012, he earned a bachelor’s degree in trombone from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) and completed his master’s in composition there in 2021.
Jasinskis has arranged and orchestrated over 1,500 works for various orchestras and ensembles, including full concert programs with artists such as Andrius Mamontovas, Ten Walls (Marijus Adomaitis), Linas Adomaitis, Ieva Narkutė, Lilas ir Innomine, and G&G Sindikatas. He arranged two musicals by Kipras MašanauskasBarbora Radvilaitė and Karalius Mindaugas – and Merūnas Vitulskis’s album Muzika Lietuvai, as well as numerous pieces for LRT music projects.
For ten years, he performed and composed music for the band Bekešo vilkai and also played with Inculto, Saulės kliošas, Skamp, G&G Sindikatas, and Lilas ir Innomine. In 2014, he founded the original music group Reinless, which has released two albums: Sus Signal (2017) and 434 (2020). From 2012 to 2023, he played in the Kaunas Big Band, serving as conductor from 2018.
Significant compositions and projects include:

  • 2016: Music for the silent film Barbora Radvilaitė (Istorinis kadras), performed live with a symphony orchestra; winner of the Lithuanian Composers’ Union competition New Works for Wind and Percussion Instruments; his piece No One’s Suit for trombone and piano became a required work at the Juozas Pakalnis International Wind Competition.

  • 2017: Music for the musical fairy tale Džiazolendas and founding of the Lithuanian JJAZZ Ensemble, recording its debut album.

  • 2018: Five-part chamber work Dedikacija Česlovui Milošui, performed at the Czesław Miłosz Festival; participated as trombonist in the EuroRadio Big Band in Riga, performing solos and first trombone parts.

  • 2020: Second place and special prize for best Lithuanian work at the Future Symphony International Composition Competition in Vilnius with the piece Change.

  • 2021: Created the musical project Symphony from Jerusalem of the North commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust, performed and recorded by the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra with invited Lithuanian and Israeli classical, jazz, and folk musicians; premiered on September 23 at the Presidential Palace in Vilnius.

  • 2022: Composed music for the solo album JJA Chamber Project, blending jazz and classical interpretations; collaborated with Kipras Mašanauskas on the music for the film and music project Vilniaus pokeris, performed by Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble; created Orero, performed by the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Modestas Pitrėnas together with the Georgian group Shara, combining original composition and six Georgian folk songs.

  • 2023: Composed P(i)e(a)ce of Vilnius, performed by the Euroradio Big Band in Vilnius.

  • 2024: Co-created the musical Emilija with composers J. Jurkūnas, R. Svilainis, and G. Venislovas, performed in five Lithuanian arenas by the ensemble Lietuva.

  • 2025: Under his leadership, Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble has released five original music albums, featuring compositions by Jasinskis and other ensemble members; he also prepared a recomposition of the ballet Coppélia (L. Delibes), performed on December 4, 2025, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the ballet’s premiere.
