He has played and recorded with the greatest French and foreign orchestras (Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, Orchestre Colonne, Orchestre d&#8217;Ile-de-France, Orchestre de l&#8217;Op\u00e9ra, Orchestre de Toulouse, Orchestre des Pays-de-Loire, Orchestre \u00e0 cordes de la Garde R\u00e9publicaine, Janacek Filharmonie Ostrava, PKF Prague Philharmonia, Orquesta Sinfonica de Bogota &#8230;) with numerous conductors (Jeffrey TATE,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Myu-Wung CHUNG, Michel PLASSON, Peter EOTVOS, Luciano BERIO, Marek JANOWSKY, Kurt MAZUR, Marc SOUSTROT, Pierre DERVAUX, Fran\u00e7ois CARRY, L\u00e9o HUSSEIN, S\u00e9bastien BILLARD, Benjamin GARZIA&#8230;).<br \/>\nHe has played several times as a soloist with orchestra (Orquesta Sinfonica de Bogota, Summer Band Festival of Jeju in South Korea, Bratislava Orchestra, PKF Prague Philharmonia, &#8230;) and in chamber music (Guy TOUVRON, Ariane JACOB, Sylvie HUE, Christophe ROY, Xavier PHILLIPS, Romain LELEU, Pascal VIGNERON, Ute GREFRER, Anthony MILLET, Hughes LECLERE, Paul MEYER, Max BONNAY,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Ryo NODA, Ladislav FANZOWITZ&#8230;) Since 1986, he has divided his musical activities between the Saxophone-Piano Duo, which he formed with Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rique LAGARDE (9 recorded CDs and more than 250 concerts, at the moment) and Claude BOLLING&#8217;s Big Band where he plays the role of 1st alto saxophone (more than 500 concerts and a dozen recorded CDs). Philippe PORTEJOIE divides his activity as a musician between classical music, jazz and sometimes cinema or television (Claude LELOUCH-Hasards et co\u00efncidences, Christophe BARRATIER-Faubourg 36, Corinne TOUZET-Valentine et compagnie, Michel HAZANAVICIUS-OSS 117 Rio ne r\u00e9ponse plus, Serge BROMBERG and Ruxandra MEDREA-L&#8217;enfer d&#8217;Henry-Georges Clouzot, C\u00e9sar 2010 for best documentary film&#8230;). He has played with the greatest jazzmen (Phil WOODS, Clark TERRY, Dizzie GILLESPIE, St\u00e9phane GRAPELLI, Didier LOCKWOOD, John FADDIS, John HENDRYX, Benny BAILEY, Roger GUERIN, Martial SOLAL, G\u00e9rard BADINI, Claude TISSENDIER, Marcel AZZOLA, Sylvain KASSAP, Fran\u00e7ois CASTIELLO, Stan LAFERRIERE, Michel PASTRE &#8230;) and played all over the world (USA, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Scotland, Germany,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Greece, South Korea, Algeria, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Reunion Island, Canada, Taiwan, Latvia, Guadeloupe, Brazil&#8230;).<br \/>\nFrom time to time, he has activities as an arranger, for Claude BOLLING, Michel DELAKIAN, Marcel AZZOLA, the saxophone quartet In\u00e9dits, Romain LELEU, Xavier PHILLIPS, the trio Futurum, Claude DELANGLE, Ute GREFRER, Michel SUPERA, Morphing Quartet, Arcis saxophone quartett, Lev PUPIS&#8230;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>and he is a member of the SACEM (composer and arranger). His music is published by Leduc, DelageMusic, Hody Musique, International Musique Diffusion, Soldano and Delatour. He also had a great experience as a saxophone quartet musician with the Gabriel PIERNE and Jean LEDIEU quartets and currently the INEDITS and 1846 Quartet. Many composers have written for him, in saxophone-piano duo and clarinet trio, the trio &#8220;Paronymes&#8221; with Sylvie HUE (Roger BOUTRY, Pierre-Max DUBOIS, Lucie ROBERT, Trygve MADSEN, G\u00e9rard GASPARIAN, Fran\u00e7ois ROSSE, Roger LERSY, Alain MARGONI, Fran\u00e7ois RAUBER, Igor KATAEV, Richard PHILLIPS, Timothy HAYWARD, Joe MAKHOLM, Jean-Claude HENRY, Anthony GIRARD, Jean-Christophe VILAIN, Stan LAFERRIERE, Dimitri TCHESNOKOV,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Olivier CALMEL&#8230;), or as a soloist (Concerto for saxophone and trumpet by Trygve MADSEN, Concerto Giocoso by Alain MARGONI, Phantasmagorical Rhapsody by Olivier CALMEL which he has just recorded with the String Orchestra of the Republican Guard under the direction of S\u00e9bastien BILLARD). Philippe PORTEJOIE was appointed Professor of Saxophone at the Conservatoire \u00e0 Rayonnement R\u00e9gional de Paris in 1995. Students from all over the world come to improve their skills with him. He has also been a full professor at the CRD of Evry-Centre-Essonne since 1987. He has just been appointed full professor at the City of Paris (September 2014) at the CRR de Paris and at the Paul DUKAS Conservatory (XIIth arrondissement). He also teaches at the P\u00f4le Sup\u00e9rieur de Paris-Boulogne-Billancourt. Now retired since September 1, 2024, he teaches at the Schola Cantorum.<br \/>\nHe often gives masterclasses in France and abroad (Acad\u00e9mie Internationale d&#8217;\u00e9t\u00e9 de Nice, Stage de Labaroche, Rencontres Musicales de Lorraine, Acad\u00e9mie Internationale de Flaine, Acad\u00e9mie Internationale de Colombes, Conservatorio de Puerto Rico, Javeriana and Nacional de Bogota Universities and Antioquia of Medellin, Janacek Conservatory of Ostrava, Royal Conservatory of Oslo, University of Seoul, University of Taipei, Curitiba Festival, Cafam of Bogot\u00e1, Universities of Riga, Utrecht, Warsaw, Festival of Bled-Slovenia, Saxophobia-Bratislava, Universities of Zagreb and Sarajevo&#8230;).<br \/>\nPhilippe PORTEJOIE plays exclusively the Buffet-Crampon saxophones, the Selmer mouthpieces, the d&#8217;Addario reeds, and the BG ligatures.
